The 3 M's Birthday Weekend

The Koosmann's/Nelson's celebrated the 3 M's birthdays together (Marci: 6, Marni: 4, and Megan: 2). We spent a busy weekend at Jill and Chuck's hiking, apple-picking, and celebrating birthdays. Happy Birthday to three grown up girls!

Megan was tired, so she enjoyed lounging on dad's back (via the kids hiking backpack), while dad did the hard work.

And we're off!

At the top of the bluff!

The view from the top of the bluff.

...and we're off again! Into the woods we go!

Chuck brought his GPS and we took a little mini-break and did some geocaching. We didn't find anything, but we all enjoyed poking around in logs and crevices.

A smile from Megs.

Megan and Marni are off again!

Brad, deciding if he should test out this natural "bridge." He didn't.

Our family.

Break time! (ie. snack time!)

Jason playing football with Brad (not pictured), and playing keep-away with Brendan and Charlie at the same time.

Brendan, hiking ahead of me, with his buffalo gun (a large stick he found.) He and Charlie were on the lookout for buffalo during the entire hike. (Yes, we tried to tell them that there were no buffalo, but that didn't stop them. And why a buffalo? Only the mind of a four-year-old knows...)

Marci, getting her turn at opening a gift. Older sister, Alyssa, looking on, and Megan, searching for her next present to open.

Mmmmmm! Marni loves the smell of gum!

The grandkids, styling Grandpa's hair.

We spent the next morning at the apple orchard in Waconia. They had various animals for the kids to check out (goats, llamas, bunnies, etc.) Above, Megan is trying to get the llama to come over and see her.

Reese and Megan, taking a cinnamon bread break in the red wagon.

All the grandkids (l->r: Brendan (4), Alyssa (8), Reese (2), Marci (6), Marni (4), Megan (2), and Charlie (almost 4).)

On the hayride out to the orchards.

Tami, holding up Marni to get an apple.

Brendan (in the tree), Brad, and Gene picking apples.

The grandkids, drawing on the pumpkins Grandma and Grandpa brought them.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Megan!

Happy 4th Birthday, Marni!

Happy 6th Birthday, Marci!

The white chocolate rainbow cake I made for the party. It didn't do justice to the one I copied, but it turned out alright.
