Emily's Baptism

We had Emily's baptism on July 8th, and all of our families were able to make it (some driving from various cabins, some from the cities, some from Sioux Falls, some sharing their 32nd birthdays!)  Emily's Godfathers are Chad and Cody Reiffenberger (Brad's twin cousins, who are like uncles to the kids) and her Godmother is my sister, Liz.  The church service was at 9:00 am (making the aforementioned driving a little more harried) with a lunch at our house afterwards.  We also added celebrating Brendan's 5th birthday with the Koosmann's that afternoon.  Brendan and Megan capped the day off with a swim in our kiddie pool.  Thanks to all for coming!

Emily, snoozing in Liz's arms before the church service.

Pastor Tim, talking to Brendan and Megan about being good siblings, demonstrating lots of love, and teaching that to Emily.  I just love that he did that!

In the middle of the baptism, Brendan very gently tugged on my skirt and asked if he could please stand with Chad and Cody.  Awww...

Pastor Tim, performing the rite of Baptism on Emily.

Each of us took a turn at marking the sign of the cross on Emily's forehead.  Above, it was Chad's turn.

Right after the Baptism, Pastor Tim took Emily, walked her up and down the aisle, and introduced her to the congregation.  He then had everyone quietly sing "This Little Light of Mine" to her as we sat down.  Man, those mommy hormones got me and I bawled like a baby.  There was just something so sweet and touching to hear everyone signing that to her.

Emily was wide-eyed and attentive the entire rest of the service. (And the Baptism was right at the beginning...I can't believe she was so good!)

Back home after church, it's party time!  Megan took some time out from playing to say hi to my parents' dogs.

Our good friends, Becky and Dean, stopped by the day before the Baptism with a fresh cutting of flowers.  A few days later, they're still beautiful!
