Memorial Day 2010-The Koosmann Cabin
We headed to Jason & Tami's cabin with the Koosmann/Nelson family for the weekend. The weather was pretty nice and we got some fishing in, some exercise in, and lots of time with the kids. The best part is that the gnats that have been so terrible at home were nonexistant there, allowing us to spend as much time outside as we wanted.
Brad and the kids walking back to the cabin from the lakeshore (you can see the Nelson's camper parked along the woods, and the massive sandpile along the shore that the kids play in.)
Megan in her BabyBjorn, with her constant compantion (her nuk). We're working on eliminating her nuk during non-sleeping times.
Chuck spotted and caught a painted turtle, and they kept it in their plastic pool. The kids loved watching it, and had fun trying to make a habitat for it in the pool.
Gene got stuck doing all of the filleting of the fish. Brendan loved watching him and was a big help by pretending to add more and more fish to grandpa's fish bucket for him to clean.
Enough pictures already, Mom!
The Nelson family headed out for some fishing. We had two people end up in the water while NOT swimming this weekend, and both are in this picture. First, Jill grabbed for a fishing rod that was dropped by one of her kids while out fishing, and she ended up falling headfirst into the water (I SO wish I could have seen it!) No harm, no foul though. Jill said the water wasn't that cold, she kept her glasses on her face, and they even retrieved the fishing rod. (Jill's making it a yearly habit of ending up in the water...although I'm the one who accidentally pushed her in last year.) The second person to end up in the water was Charlie. He was playing on one of the docks, near the shore, and ended up (we think) tripping on some fishing line and flopping into the water. No harm no foul here either, all that was needed was a rinse in the shower and a new pair of dry clothes. Although, grandma got a talking to from sister Marci about not letting Charlie go in the water next time. :)

Brad and Jason headed out fishing.
Brendan spent a lot of time fishing on the dock. Here he is, mid-cast, filling up the green wagon with fish to take to grandpa to clean. Gotta love cleaning those imaginary fish! They taste good too!
Megan enjoyed her second time eating puffs. She's picking up that food-to-mouth thing pretty quickly. She also enjoyed her first taste of watermelon, cinnamon bread, and raspberries (you should have seen her sour face with the raspberries. It was hilarious!)
Brendan and Marni, taking babies shopping. They decided they were getting milk, strawberries, and bread from the grocery store.
