We carved pumpkins on Sunday evening, and the kids were a big help. Each one picked out the design they liked (Emily got a little help choosing), then we set the table up, carved off the stems, and got to work. Both Brendan and Megan loved scraping the insides this year (last year Megan screamed if we tried to get her to touch the "guts") and they helped sort out the seeds so we could roast them later.
Megan and her pumpkin. This year she would actually touch the inside, but we went through about ten napkins because she couldn't stand to have the goop on her hands (this from the same girl who will tote around a handful of worms from my garden for as long as I'll let her!)
Brendan was a huge help with cleaning out his pumpkin this year...he didn't even want to stop for a picture!
Me, "helping" Emily with her pumpkin.
Emily jumped around and cheered us on.
Emily got some hands-on time with her pumpkin too!
Our jack-o-lanterns with the lights on...
...and with the lights off! Brendan has an alligator, Megan has a kitty, and Emily has a Halloween face that matches Brendan's trick-or-treating pumpkin bucket (per his request, of course!)
