Mom's Visit to Montevideo

My mom came out for a quick visit (Monday late afternoon to Wednesday morning) early this month, before the baby is born (three weeks to go...woohoo!) Monday evening we headed over to Becky and Dean's to see their new chicks, and Mom therefore got to experience one of the kids' favorite places to visit. We checked out their new chicks, watched Dean feed the sheep and milk a goat, helped bottle-feed some baby goats, checked out their garden beds, played on the old metal swing-set, and enjoyed a cookie picnic. Not bad for one evening! The next day, my mom played with the kids while I did some filing and office work, we visited, and we headed to Pizza Ranch for supper (Brad left that day for introducing a seminar in Fargo.) And Wednesday morning, Mom headed home when the kids and I headed to MOPS. A quick visit, but we really enjoyed getting to see her (the kids especially enjoyed jumping into bed with her in the mornings to wake her up, and texting on her cell phone.) Thanks, Mom!

Brad, Brendan and Megan, watching all the chicks under the heat lamps.

Brendan carefully caught a chick all by himself, and gently held it in his hands.

Megan wanted to pet the chick more than hold it, so Brad held and Megan petted.

Megan, saying hello to the hours-old black lamb they had.

Megan, getting her turn bottle-feeding the baby goats.

Brendan and Megan watching the sheep inhale some extra feed that Dean gave them.

Megan's my little farm girl. She could stand and watch the animals for forever.

The kids, back inside, petting the kids.

Brendan, giving Nona a big smile.

Megan, with a big smile all of her own.

Brendan, playing dinosaurs with Nona.

Hey, Nona! Just going to make a mess in your bedroom!

Uh oh! The two crazies got into the baby's crib!

Our cardinal even stopped by midday to say hi to Mom.

Megan, all dressed up for Nona.

My mom brought some small wooden airplanes from a trip my dad took. The kids loved them! Brendan and my mom threw the planes back and forth for about twenty minutes.

Megan and outside baby, getting pushed in the swing.

Megan LOVES playing restaurant, and nothing seems to make her happier than pretend-making mashed potatoes, steak, chicken, ice cream cones, blueberry pie, hamburgers, french fries, and anything else she can think of, handing it to me, and watching me eat it up and declare it to be "Delicious!" She could do this for hours!
