Sharing A Room

We finally did it. A little ahead of schedule even, but we did it! We have Brendan and Megan together in one room. We put up the bunk bed, swapped all the baby stuff into Brendan's old room, and put up Megan's toddler bed. It took two whole nights of taking things down and putting them back together to get the rooms situated and both kids happy (Brendan was happy with the bunk beds, but Megan decided she wanted to be in a big girl bed too, hence the toddler bed.) And the big question is....how do they sleep? Okay. They go to bed really well, but Brendan still wakes up a couple times a night (cold, hot, potty, water, etc.) and Megan wakes up early (6:30am). So, after a couple of nights of Brendan waking Megan up, she now sleeps right through him (and vice versa if she wakes up for water.) She still wakes him up in the morning unless we race her out of the room at first peep, but I think he's slowly getting better at tuning her out. (Yes, mom, it serves me right for waking Liz up at 5am every morning to come down and watch tv with me when I was little...) It's pretty funny to listen to them at night. They chat a little bit (with Megan basically repeating everything that Brendan says) and that eventually turns into one or both getting crabby because the other starts singing so they do the "Mom, Megan's feet are touching the floor!" and "Brendan, GO TO SLEEP!) (A direct repeat quote from me, usually.) But whenever I refer to the room as just Brendan's or just Megan's, I quickly get corrected that it is BOTH of their rooms. :)

This is at 11pm the first night. Megan's first night in the toddler bed. She went to bed great and slept all night long. Hooray!

We didn't have Brendan's bunk beds up yet, so he slept on a mattress on the floor. Yeah for sleeping kids!

The next evening they both crawled in Megan's toddler bed. Very cute.

Brendan in his bunk bed.

The fully installed bunk beds. Brendan will sleep on the bottom until Megan is ready to go to the bottom bunk. Eventually, whatever gender we have two of will share this bed.

Brendan, remembering his old toddler bed.

All ready for bed!
