Montevideo Santa Holiday Parade
On the 28th of November, Montevideo had a family event where Santa came to town on a train, followed by a parade down main street. It was pretty chilly out, but no snow, so we bundled the kids up and headed downtown. We caught Santa just as he was coming into town on the train, Brendan shook his hand as he walked by on his way to the float, then we found a parade-watching spot as out of the wind as possible and waited. And waited. And waited. It was only about a half hour, but it felt like forever...but the parade eventually started and the kids loved it.
Walking to the railroad crossing (Brad, with Megan, is ahead of me.) It's a little hard to tell, but Santa's train was coming in on the far right. We couldn't believe the crowd of people...you can't really tell, but there had to be a couple hundred people crowded around the tracks.
Brad, Megan and Brendan waving at the train (and Santa.)
Santa leaving the train to mingle with the crowd on his way to his float.
All settled in to watch the parade.
Brad and Brendan, keeping warm.
Megan and myself.
The kids, trying to stay warm. Megan played with my gloves the whole time (wanting them on, wanting them off, etc.) and they ran around the part of the block we were on, giggling and jumping around.
The parade has started! Santa rode on the fire truck, which Brendan thought was pretty neat.
