I had a wonderful birthday. School was two hours late, so I got to spend the morning with all three kids, after being served breakfast in bed. The kids made birthday cards. I got to take a long, relaxing shower (no, that doesn't only happen on my birthday...), and I spent the evening out with Brad. We went ice skating in the dark, had supper at Duffy's, then watched a movie back at home.
Thank you for the phone calls, cards, and messages. You truly know how to make a girl feel special.
Picture-proof that I was on ice skates. Maybe it's all the Olympians making it look easy, but I told Brad, as we were putting on our skates, that even though I hadn't been skating since I was about eight, it shouldn't be that difficult. I can roller-blade just fine, and it can't be much different than that, right? Brad just laughed at me (which should have been my cue to think differently), and after having to cling, desperately, to the side wall for the first few minutes, I felt every second of my 33 years old. I eventually relaxed a bit (although my legs burned afterwards from me fearfully clenching them for so long.) I only fell once, but I did spend a portion of the time standing like I am in the picture, praying for a strong wind to blow me around. I think we'll go during daylight hours next time...and I'll wear knee pads!
Brad and I. (Thank goodness for flash!)
Of course, my super-athletic husband was skating all around the rink by the end. He was literally skating circles around me.
Mmmmm...birthday cake!
