Our Gummi Bear

I had an ultrasound on Tuesday to confirm due dates and check on how the pregnancy is going. I've never had an ultrasound this early before, so it was a little unusual for me, but the whole family came along, and we were all excited to see the baby.

The baby is the white-blobbish-looking-thing on the bottom of the black circular shape. The tech called it "the gummi bear stage", where it is the size and general proportions of a gummi bear. Brendan loved that phrase and has been repeating it ever since.

The kids thought the ultrasound was pretty neat...for the first couple minutes. They saw the baby, watched the heart beat (178 bpm), saw mom and dad sigh with relief that it appears to be only one baby, and then Megan decided the room looked more interesting and she went exploring. So, Brendan plopped down in the chair next to me, took my hand in his, smiled at me, and stared intently at the screen for the remainder of the ultrasound. The due date ended up getting pushed back a few days and it's now April 27, 2012. We can't wait to meet our little gummi bear!
