One of Megan and Emily's favorite cartoons is PAW Patrol on Nick Jr. (although we don't get it anymore). The girls sit together and laugh like crazy at the different pups. It's so cute to watch...they just giggle and giggle and giggle...
Outdoor pizza party!
We spent the day outside playing and cleaning up the yard, so I was delighted when Brad suggested using our gift certificate to get a pizza. More outside time for me!
Emily loved the pizza party and talked about it for weeks afterwards.
We topped off the pizza party with a marshmallow roast.
Above, Brad, Megan and Brendan are being goofy.
Brendan and Megan with me (still decked out in my outside cleaning clothes).
Brendan had to make a poster for school that described himself. He attached pictures and wrote about his favorite animal (tiger), his favorite color (yellow), his favorite food (pesto pasta), his favorite place (the late Metrodome), what he wants to be when he grows up (a football player-see above) his favorite thing to do (golf) and what he would wish for if he was granted one wish ($23,000,000 to buy his own ipad).
Speaking of ipads...in the few times Emily has managed to get her hands on it, she has become proficient at the preschool games I downloaded for Megan . Above, she's showing Brad her matching and sequence skills.
Emily's hammy smile.
Brendan received Turbo in his Easter basket this year, so we split the movie time in half and had a Turbo/popcorn party the first night, and just cuddled up together and finished it the second night. Emily wasn't the interested and spent her time paging through a kids cookbook (that-a girl!)
After two years of debating, we finally hired a tree service to cut down the pine tree overshadowing my garden, a cherry tree that had become diseased, and grind out an old stump that made mowing difficult. Watching the guys work provided the girls and I with over an hour of entertainment (although Brendan was sad to miss the action...hence the pictures.) They chopped all of the branches off until they reached the top, then sheered off the top and cut the tree down. It was a beautiful pine tree and we were sad to see it go (the kids loved digging under it while I weeded), but the existing garden soil is fantastic and I didn't want to move it to somewhere less fertile. We left the stump of this tree to use as the top tier of a strawberry patch, and I plan on doubling the size of the garden this year. And planting blueberry bushes. And making an asparagus patch. And planting more raspberries. And another apple tree. And, somewhere, Brad is reading this and shaking his head in exasperation, muttering about our budget. I know, I know...but a girl has to plan!
The tree service, gathering all of the pine boughs.
A sleepy Sunday afternoon.
Brendan spent his sleepy Sunday afternoon trying out Brad's old Sega, instead of resting.
To each their own!
