We celebrated Emily's second birthday with my family at the Crea farm while we were there for Easter. Cathy, Josh and Alexa came from the cities and Liz's boyfriend, Chris, was visiting from Missouri. Lauren wasn't able to make it because she was working, but we got to see her for a few minutes before church later in the evening. Emily is finally at the age where she's starting to really pick up on the excitement of birthdays and holidays. We had mini-hamburgers, french fries, grilled potatoes with blue cheese, fresh fruit and veggies, and lemonade. She loves Strawberry Shortcake, but she wanted a chocolate cake, so I tried my best to combine them. I can't believe she's going to be two...where has the time gone...
Emily, opening her gifts.
Emily's birthday cake...homemade chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles, and white cake cupcakes with strawberry frosting. Throw in some vanilla ice cream (which we did) and no matter what you like, we'll have you covered!
Happy almost-2nd Birthday, Emily! (She hasn't quite gotten the hang of blowing out candles yet, so Megan and Brendan were happy to help!)
I wasn't able to get that great of a picture, but Alexa was being so funny...Cathy and Josh gave her tastes of vanilla ice cream and she would grimace (above) from the cold when it first went into her mouth, then swallow it and beg for more. She looks like she's crying above, but believe me, she was very happy!
