As Brad and I were preparing supper one evening in early September, Brendan and Megan got restless. So, we encouraged them to explore outside while we finished grilling. About a half hour later, they came back with a bucket full of cicada shells. They had about 150 of them, and they couldn't have been more excited. (They also informed us that they were going to continue to collect them and then sell them in a garage sale. Ummmm....)
I wasn't sure how the girls would handle it without Brendan around during the day...but to my enjoyment, they play really well together. Emily follows Megan around most of the day, and she's the first person Emily asks for when she wakes up from her nap. If Megan needs some alone-time (she likes reading, playing puzzles and playing dolls alone sometimes) she just goes in her room and shuts the door, which gives me a chance for some one-on-one attention to Emily.
Playdough!
My brother-in-law, Jason, made some really good salsa that he shared with us. He was kind enough to share the recipe and, using some produce given to us by some terrific friends (that's YOU, Becky & Dean Risa and Wanique Peterson!) I dusted off my canner and put it to use. You know that commercial with the woman purchasing about a hundred bottles of Pumpkin Spice Coffee-Mate? When she lovingly pats each one? Totally feel like doing that to these babies!
My little cuddle-bugs, watching a morning cartoon together.
