Happy Amsberry Day!

Life leads people in different directions, but one of the things that I love about so many of my friendships is the ability for us to pick right up where we left things...whether it was a week ago or five years ago.  In college, Brad and I had the unbelievable good luck to be each be roommates with one of our closest friends in college, who also ended up dating and getting married.  Joe and Jill definitely fall into the category of friends whom we don't get to see as much as we'd like, but when we're together it's as if no time has passed.  Joe, Jill, and Eli (their two-year-old son) headed to the cities last Monday to spend the afternoon with us.  We moseyed around Como Zoo, played for awhile at a park, then had supper at my grandparent's house.  We had a wonderful time catching up, getting to know Eli better, and just spending some time together.  We called it our Amsberry Day.  So, go contact one of your Amsberrys, and Happy Amsberry Day to you all!

We arrived at the zoo a little before the Amsberrys and we took the kids through the Tropical Encounters exhibit at the zoo, which takes you through the rainforest and follows the journal of a field researcher.  After we went through the exhibit we waited in the main Visitor Center, which has a large glass window where you can see through into the rainforest exhibit.  Megan loved watching one of the birds as it meandered around on the other side of the glass.

While we were watching the giraffe at the Como Zoo, Brendan noticed two giraffe statues behind us.  So he climbed on up!

Eli on the giraffe.  What a smile!

At this point, a staff member walked over to us and asked us to please not climb on the statues, like the sign asks.  What sign?  Ooops!  The sign that was right in front of the giraffe statues.  What rebels we are!  Ummmm....or maybe just completely unobservant.

We finished wandering around the zoo, complete with snack-time, then headed to a park that Joe and Jill had passed on their walk in.  The slide on top of the rubberized hill was an especially big hit...
