More Ice Fishing
We tried ice fishing as a family again. First, we headed to Lac Qui Parle and Brad met Gene (his dad) out on the ice to see how fishing was going. Then we headed back to the main landing, loaded up the sled and ice house, and headed out to find a spot. This time I was able to help pull the fishing gear because Brad and I shared a pair of ice cleats (note to self: get a pair for myself...they're great!). Brad drilled the holes, we set up the house and we got the kids set. Brendan was busy walking between the fish house and the spot where Gene set his fishing stuff up at (about 50 yards away), and Megan stayed busy with asking for snacks and asking to go home. Needless to say, Megan and I didn't last too long (and we passed Jason (Brad's brother) headed to do some fishing as we were leaving, so I don't think we were missed much.) We headed back to Brad's parents house and waited for the guys to finish their thing (which took a few hours...they were catching some...but they were smaller...but at least they were catching some!) I've deducted that Megan is done with ice fishing for the season. Which means I'm done with ice fishing for the season. But that 's okay...I much prefer "regular fishing" (especially when I have a babysitter!) and I can't wait for this summer to do some!
Brad, chatting with his dad on the ice, when we first arrived.
Brendan, ready to get out of the van and do some ice fishing.
Megan, pretty happy to just read books in the van (hmmm.....sounds like someone I know...)
Brad (and Brendan), drilling the fishing holes at our spot.
Brendan, on his way back from visiting with Grandpa at his spot. I'm pretty amazed at how well Brendan gets around on the ice already. He definitely has me beat (although it doesn't take much, with my sense of balance!)
Megan, peeking out of the ice house, already asking to go home.
Megan and Brendan, enjoying a cookie treat that a friend gave them. The cookie distracted Megan for a little bit, but then she was ready to go home again.
Brad did his Daddy duty and took the kids on a sled ride again, which delighted them.
Back at Grandma and Grandpa's. Megan (and "soft puppy") are getting a snuggle from Grandma to warm her/them up (although Megan was mostly just tired.)
Brad and Brendan (back from fishing), playing tanks on the Wii (which Brendan is obsessed with.) It's pretty fun to see Brendan get so excited...although I think of how many years of video games I have ahead of me with this boy and it makes me shake my head (literally...makes me shake my head...that's why it's such a special treat at Grandma and Grandpa's, and why we aren't going to get a Wii.)
