The MOPPETS learned about being soldiers for God at Mops in early February. Brendan got to be the designated knight that was dressed up and stood in front of the kids while they talked about it. They even took a picture of him for us. He was so excited he got to do this! What little guy wouldn't love getting to hold a shield and sword?Wednesday, February 29, 2012
February 2012
Here are some family pictures from February 2012...

Megan loves getting into our "hair stuff" drawer in the bathroom and experimenting with the headbands, hair ties and clips we have in there. She was rummaging around in it after bathtime and put the headbands on her head and the hair ties on her wrists. Then, in true girl fashion, she heads to the mirror and grins at herself.
Brad and I switch off mornings getting up with the kids. So, inevitably, one of us gets up at 6:15am-6:30am and one gets to sleep until 7:30am. This morning I came out at 7:30am and found my sleepy family snuggled under a blanket, watching Wild Kratts.
Anything tub-like or container-like must get crawled into!
Our winter has been just crazy...warm and sunny with hardly any of the traditional Minnesota elements (snow, ice, and the bitter cold.) The kids have been begging me to go out in the sandbox (and they're reminded of it daily, as it isn't covered in snow), so today (Feb 6) we just did it. No wind, bright sunshine and kids full of energy equaled a busy afternoon outside. Megan played in the sandbox with Brendan for quite awhile, then moved on to play with her babies. Brendan just couldn't get enough of the sandbox. What a beautiful day!
Due to the warmer weather (absolutely no snow on the ground on Feb 9th except for one tiny pile...I just can't believe it!) we spent a good hour playing outside at dusk. Brad and Brendan practiced their softball skills for a majority of the time and Megan and I kept ourselves entertained with all sorts of other outside toys.
Megan's first real hitting session with the t-ball set. She did pretty well, but definitely isn't as interested as Brendan was at her age.
After t-ball practice, the kids wanted to shovel...so they headed to the only pile of snow in our yard. It was basically a pile of ice, and they really had to chop at it, but it kept them entertained for awhile.
My little cooks, helping me make muffins.
Brendan has developed a love of Xbox (and pretty much all electronic games). On Saturday afternoons that we're home, while Megan and I nap, he and Dad play baseball, golf, hockey, football and basketball (each in about 10-minute increments, if that.) Luckily, we're not home that many Saturday afternoons!
Megan and Brendan, playing Shoots and Ladders.
We ordered an ice auger and a pair of new boots for me (Happy Birthday to me!) and the thing that delighted Megan the most? The big box the order came in. Brad's parents were coming over and she was determined to wait inside the box and jump out and scare them. She waited in this box for about fifteen minutes for them to arrive...I couldn't believe she lasted that long!
