We headed back up to the cabin in early August for a week of fun and relaxation. And relax and have fun, we did!

The turn-off to the cabin. The good 'ol "bumpy road" where my sisters and I (when we were little) would have to frantically start picking up the car so we could jump out the second we pulled in the driveway.

The Rose Lake South Shore sign.

Let the fun begin! The kids were off for a ride with Papa on the lawn mower. Nice hair, Papa!

Brendan, napping in his Spider-Man sleeping bag.

An after-nap rock with Papa (probably watching a shark documentary.)

Brendan, feeding the ducks. Yes, I know, we don't want them around the docks, but how fun is it to feed them when you're little? I just couldn't say no (despite the protests from my sisters!)

Brendan, examining a toad with Auntie Dooney.

Megan, spending time with Zizzi Cathy. Or is it the chips? Yes, definitely, also spending time with the chips. (But, as Cathy pointed out to me...at least they're low salt chips!)

One afternoon, Brad and I packed up the kids, a lunch, and our swimming gear, and headed to a nearby beach (just to shake things up a little.) We ate our lunch, explored a little, and played on the sandy beach. What fun!

The kids and I went on a frog hunt, and there were MANY in the tall grass around the lake shore. We met a nice mother-son who were picnicking for the day. They had also been catching frogs, and they showed them to us (above, in the tub.) Megan was delighted and pretty much tried to crawl into the tub with the frogs. We stayed and visited with them for awhile, played with their dog, and then went on our way.

Megan, saying hi to the giant loon.

Brendan was happy to just play on the lake shore all afternoon (Megan, not so much. She still isn't a fan of the lake yet.) For the most part, he'd dump buckets of water into the sand, then race back and re-fill the bucket. He did this for a very, very,
very long time.

My favorite part was watching him jump back into the lake. Look out below!

And, of course, we did lots of fishing. Brendan just gets better and better about being in the boat without needing entertainment (besides the fishing.) Above, catching sunnies in the honey-hole.

Brad and Brendan fishing.
Enough of this picture-taking...I wanna fish too!!

Brad, letting speed-demon help drive on the way back to the cabin.

My handsome honey, on the drive back home, with a week's worth of beard. Kinda hard to see, you say? That's my man!
