The Circus
The circus was at the Lac qui Parle school the other night, and Brad's mom was kind enough to watch Megan for us so we could take Brendan (Brad's dad was working at the circus, so we were able to see him there.) (Note to self: remember to tell mother-in-law how baby prefers to sleep BEFORE we go, so as to avoid a very fussy baby for someone who is kind enough to watch her!) Brendan wasn't sure what to think of the circus when we got there (they had turned off all the lights just as we got there, so Brendan was a little nervous), but he quickly got into it once the upbeat music started being played. He wasn't that into some of the acts, but as long as they played music, he was happy dancing around by us. A couple weeks ago he had a nightmare about an elephant with red eyes in his bedroom, so he's been a little scared of elephants and we weren't sure how he'd react to seeing a real one, but the elephant was a dancing elephant, and Brendan loved it. (It completely helped him get over his nightmare too...we haven't heard about it since. Yay!) He was so good about all the stuff they were selling in the croud (coloring books, cotton candy, balloons, etc.), so we snacked on some popcorn and enjoyed the show. Here are some pictures...
The trapeze artist did this REALLY cool move where she was whipped around in super-fast circles with only her neck attached to the bar by a rope. It's hard to describe (and not pictured), but that was the best move she did. (Both Brendan and Brad weren't too impressed, but I thought she was okay.)
The dog trick troop. They ran around and did jumping tricks, etc.
The "lion" from the "jungles of deepest Africa". Cute intro for a tiny, tiny dog. He ran around with his trainer and did tricks.
Brendan wasn't too enthusiastic this year, but he stayed still to watch it. And he LOVED the music.
This little kid was pretty impressive. He rode a unicycle, juggled, and then did balancing tricks, like this one on this board and these rolls, where he took the hoops and tangled and untangled himself while balancing.
During the intermission the kids could ride the elephant. Brendan was definately too small this year, but he had fun watching.
