Halloween 2013

Happy Halloween!  Megan woke up with cold (it never fails, right?), so we laid low for most of the day, missing our last music class and a few activities around town.  By evening, she was feeling better (Magic, huh?  Nothing gets in the way of Trick-or-Treating!), so we loaded up the car and headed to Madison to trick-or-treat around Gene and Mary's neighborhood.  We had a quick supper of stuffed shells and then the kids practically dove into their costumes.  It was cool out, but no wind, so we layered the kids up under their costumes, put on hats and gloves, and set out.  I think this is the last year we're going to get away with not taking Brendan out longer than the girls.  He was definitely interested on continuing once we finished our tour of the neighborhood.  Neither Brendan or Megan enjoyed the part of having to go to the door and say "Trick or Treat!", so they would just stand around until we reminded them that nobody would come to the door unless they knocked.  Emily sure caught on to "Candy!" quick and, although she didn't get to eat any, she was delighted to be collecting it.  After going around the neighborhood, we went over to Chuck and Korinne's (Brad's uncle and aunt) for our tradition of a quick visit and the kids helping them hand out treats to their trick-or-treaters.  Then it was back to Grandma and Grandpa's for a quick snack, getting kids into their pajamas (and brushing their teeth!), a quick van re-load, and we were headed home.  This is one of those evenings that has quite a bit of rush involved (now that Brendan's in school and we want to get him to bed at a decent hour-and thank you to Gene and Mary, who helped encourage us to not get too side-tracked.), but it's so worth it because of their excitement.  We hope everyone enjoyed a safe and fun-filled Halloween!

Happy Halloween, from the kids, to you!
