My boys, taking a lazy Saturday afternoon nap together.
Emily was awake during everyone's nap-time, so she and I played for awhile. Mommy-Emily time doesn't come very often! We played some dollhouse...
...and some dinosaurs. She made the cutest "roaring" sound for the T-Rex and would alternate between having him stomping all around and roaring, kissing all of the dinosaurs, and making the pterodactyl fly.
I am so unbelievably spoiled! Not only did I get to enjoy a weekend of resting and recovery from my last chemo treatment (thanks to Jason and Tami, who went from three kids to five for the weekend!) but Gene and Mary showed up and tilled and planted my garden for me. How do I deserve all of this?!
Megan has never had a haircut, telling me that she wanted to grow her hair out to be as long as Rapunzel. But the last couple of times I cut the guys' hair, she's been interested. So I scheduled a hair appointment and Mary (Brad's mom) and I took her for her first haircut. This is Megan before her haircut...
...and this is Megan after (in her pj's, ready for bed.) She kept asking for it to be short "like daddy's", but we stopped at her shoulders so it could be "like [her cousin] Reese's!"
Megan and I.
This is Emily's last "Ba" (bottle) before we switched to whole milk.
Brendan, reading a book to Emily.
Emily's favorite spot, hanging over the back of the couch, looking out the window. She excitedly points out the birds (or "tweet tweet" as she calls them)...
...and she loves waving at the vehicles as they pass by on the highway. She also blows them kisses and yells "Bye!" (which she was doing in this picture, as well as waving.)
Brendan and Megan were feeling particularly adventurous on morning, so they emptied their toy-box in the living room and brought all of their toys into their bedroom and placed them on every available surface (believe me, this picture only has a small sample of the toys that were crowding their room.) They decided that all of the toys were cakes that they had made into toy shapes and they threw one of Megan's dolls a birthday party, going as far as wrapping a bunch of their special toys in some light blankets and wrapping it up with a half of a roll of scotch tape. Then they called Emily and I (who had been playing in the living room) in to sing "Happy Birthday" and open presents. They make me laugh (well, okay, the half a roll of tape didn't make me laugh, but everything else did!)
Emily loves books. It's the first thing she asks for every morning, and if you hand her a book she doesn't want she will adamantly shake her head at you until you give her the correct book. And she loves crawling on your lap so you can point out all of the pictures for her. Like most kids, she especially loves books with puppies and kittens in them, and will excitedly point to the pictures and then sweetly kiss each one. I caught her in the act (notice the sucked-in cheeks from the kissing!)
