Our weekend was pretty laid back...I went to a baby shower, ran a couple of errands, we made it to church because Megan never came down with the flu (yay!) and we just didn't do too much of anything else. Except hair. My to-do list over the weekend included giving the boys their much-overdue haircuts. And my hair has been driving me nutty. I've been shedding for the past two weeks, and between the mangy-dog look, the dry (and thus itchy) scalp, and the hair everywhere, I decided to take matters into my (and Brad's) own hands. We were told not to shave my head down to the scalp because of folliculitis, so we were trying to figure out what we could use to help me get rid of my shedding stubble, and Brad suggested tape. We tried packaging tape, but it wasn't strong enough. Duct tape? (It's good for everything, you know!) But that seemed a little harsh for my scalp. Then I came up with the idea of using our tape-covered lint roller. It was spectacular! Itchy, flaky, shedding...gone! Oh, the things a loving husband will do for you!
This picture was taken on February 28th, about a week after my second chemo treatment.
Brad with the trusty lint roller.
It really does work! We went through about twenty sheets of the paper.
Me, on March 2nd. As you can see, I'd been shedding a lot, and it was just time to get rid of the rest.
My patchy hair from the back.
Brad, lint-rolling my head. He started off all tender and hesitant, asking every 30 seconds or so if he was hurting me....but by the end he was attacking that hair with a vengeance (with my blessing.) It was pretty funny. He also announced that this checks another thing off his bucket list...I mean, who doesn't want to lint roll all of the hair off their wives' head at some point in their life?
Ahhhhhh...so much better!
Now, I look bald, but if you look really closely, you'll see that I still have light-colored stubble on my head. It's the funniest thing. I have (had) dark brown hair with some natural blonde highlights. All of the dark hair came off, but the blonde hair is stuck tight. And, no, it's not gray...it's blonde! :) We're interested to see if it stays in after my next chemo treatment.
