One beautiful Sunday afternoon in early August, we decided to go on a family picnic/fishing adventure after church. We packed up and headed to Lac Qui Parle. Emily slept on the way there and for the first half hour, so we were able to get everything set up and eat our lunch together before she needed out of her car seat.
Brad took Brendan and Megan for a little walk to try to scope out a fishing spot.
Eating our lunch (sandwiches, carrots and hummus, chips and cut up fruit) in the shade.
Emily's awake and ready for her lunch. She and I headed back to the car while Brad took Brendan and Megan fishing on the lakeshore.
After some pokey nursing (and no less than four cars driving by, with their owners peering into our van) Emily and I headed out to find the rest of our family. Brendan and Brad were happily fishing, and Megan was playing with the worms!
Ahhhh...what a way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
A view from the shoreline...what a beautiful day!
The guys really didn't catch anything besides rocks (although they both kept saying they felt "nibblers"), but that seemed almost beside the point today. It was all about spending some time together.
Emily was all tired from her big excursion out, poor girl!
