Trip to the Circus
We went to the circus again this year, and we were lucky enough to get to see cousins Marni and Reese who were being babysat by their sets of grandparents while Jason and Tami were in Hawaii on vacation (so envious!!) Megan was old enough to join us this year, so between the four kids, we four adults (Brad, Gene, Mary and I) were kept busy. We had a good time. The circus itself was okay, and the weather kept us on our toes, but we loved getting to see everyone that was there!
We are ready for the circus to begin (l->r: Brendan, Marni, Brad and Reese)
This kid did a whole bunch of tricks, including many with the fiery baton. He twirled the baton and did a limbo-like move all the way to the ground, then back up again.
The hula-hoop girl. She was twirling all those hoops on her body. The ring-master (in the black suit) threw bunches of them at her, she'd catch them over her head, then twirl them down around her body so she could catch more. As someone who is not very coordinated, and therefore pretty pumped if I can get one hula-hoop going around my body, I was impressed.
Brad surprised the kids with two balloons (one for Brendan and Megan, one for Marni and Reese) The kids did a great job taking turns, and they were all delighted. (Above, Megan, enjoying her turn with the balloon.)
The kids, taking a turn with Grandma and Grandpa (front to back: Brendan, Mary, Marni, Gene, Reese.)
The clown. He blew whistles for a comedy act and he juggled. Marni was terrified of him...especially when we was blowing the whistles. She cuddled right on my lap and put my hands over her ears until he was done. It was so cute!
Reese, laying a hug and kiss on Megan. At this point, both Megan and Reese were disinterested in the circus, but loved climbing up and down the bleachers.
One of the circus performers, doing a balancing act.
We weren't supposed to get snow until 2am in the morning, but when we went out to the van, this is what it looked like outside. Yuck! It was an ice/snow mix coming down, and people were going in the ditch at 30 miles per hour. It took us almost an hour to get home (an extra half hour), but we survived thanks to Brad's careful driving!
