Here are some family photos from January 2011...

Megan discovered the fun of indoor sledding. Brendan and I would take turns pulling her around the house (no, we didn't leave the string around her neck, and yes, she pulls her socks off every chance she gets...hence usually wearing shoes in the house.) She couldn't get enough...and Brendan thought it looked like so much fun HE had to have turns too. I ended up hiding the sled. :)
Brendan, with his new sunglasses on, playing with his Moon Sand construction site. (Very fun to play with...definitely not so fun to clean up.) Thanks, Auntie Dooney...

The cardboard box that the kids' kitchen playset came in provided as much fun (if not more) than the actual kitchen set for the first few weeks. Brendan loved bringing pillows and blankets in there and requesting that I tape the box up so it was dark (...is that child cruelty if they request it?...)

Megan, reading the directions of Brendan's Lincoln Logs.

Megan, nuk and all, playing with the Lincoln Logs.

The kids have started playing together more and more.

Megan didn't like the inside of the kitchen set box (I think she had a touch of claustrophobia in her.) Instead, she liked climbing on top of the box and knocking to whomever was inside.

Megan: "Yep...still don't want to go in there..."

Brendan convinced Brad to crawl inside...

The kids, playing with their Dad In A Box. Brendan was trying to close him up inside, and Megan was knocking to him.

I was washing cupboard faces one day, and the kids were going crazy wanting to help. So, I gave them each some paper towels, steered them towards the kitchen chairs, and let them go to work. They loved it!

Cleaning the chairs eventually lead to washing the porch doors. This alone kept them interested for over ten minutes. I should really look closer at the child labor laws in Minnesota...

Megan at bathtime.

Her hair is getting so long compared to Brendan's at that time. Brendan was pretty bald until he was two. Way to strive ahead, Megs!

Megan, brushing her own teeth. She's really good at it, and loves standing in front of the mirror as she does it.

Brad set up Brendan's new sand-and-snow digger and they played construction site in the entry way.

Brendan adores his digger! One of the best gifts ever (thanks, Jason and Tami Koosmann & family!) This was the last picture we have of Brendan before his unfortunate Superman accident...which happened about an hour later. Look at that scar-free forehead!)

Post-Superman accident. We had a low-key morning the next day. Brad tried to catch some zzz's while he and Brendan watched some cartoons together.

We had a popcorn picnic that afternoon. Brendan loves having living room picnics and would eat every meal that way if I'd let him.

Megan, enjoying her popcorn.

Megan now plays dollhouse by herself. She just giggles when I ask her if she wants to play.

Peek-a-boo!

Brendan decided he wanted to go ice fishing one day. This was the best I could do...

Megan loves cuddling in the rocking chair now, but she has to have at least one baby on her lap.

Brendan still sleeps in very interesting ways. He's a light sleeper and wakes several times a night. He alternates between being hot and cold...and instead of using a blanket that he could pull on and off by himself (too easy, right?) he takes on and off his pajamas. He hangs off his bed in funny ways while sleeping (above) and he occasionally rocks himself to sleep on his rocking chair.
We've learned to just leave him be...and hopefully one night (sometime in the near future, Dear Lord)
he'll learn to sleep through the night.

The kids and I headed outside for a couple of hours on one of the warm days in early January. I grabbed one of Brendan's favorite gifts from Christmas, his digger, and let him dig away out in the snow banks. He thought it was terrific.

Megan loved being outside, and wanted to do not much more than be pulled around in her sled and watch her brother dig.

The kids playing.

Brendan and I dug blocks out of the snow and made a wall. Megan enjoyed watching and swiping at the snow around her sled. The best part was letting both kids go and letting them smash down the wall. What a great end to a great day outside!

Megan's first time painting. When Megan showed interest in Brendan painting one day, Brad grabbed a q-tip, stuck it in some paint, and let her go to town. Notice, in the above picture, she's a righty...

...and now she's a lefty.

And while coloring, she's a lefty....

...and then she's a righty. We aren't sure which hand she'll use predominantly, but she sure has fun regardless.

Brendan, fixing the doors to my pot and pans cupboard. Notice the workman's overalls. Very spiffy, huh? And Megan joined in the fun and put on Brendan's working gloves and pounded away with a hammer too. My little helpers!
