Rose Lake
Brendan and I headed up to the cabin with my mom mid-week to enjoy some Rose Lake time. The weather was pretty nice for the couple days we were up there alone, but a little cooler on the weekend when my dad, Cathy, and Brad joined us. I didn't take too many pictures (too busy relaxing and enjoying myself), but we had a great time. We went out to eat, played at the Vergas playground and beach, went swimming, watched our neighbors building their updated cabin, and played outside. Brendan and I attempted to go fishing, but it didn't last too long, because I like fishing too much myself to concentrate entirely on Brendan. :)
In all my years of vacationing at Rose Lake, I'd never been to the Vergas beach...so when mom and I took Brendan to the nearby playground we also planned to stop by and let him play in the sand. We had a great time, and each time Brendan goes swimming (which right now is more playing in the sand and getting his legs wet) the more daring he gets about going in the water. In the above picture Brendan and my mom are watching some of the other kids splashing around in the water.
One night, while at the cabin, Brendan quietly left the room. A few minutes later I went into the next room and THIS is what I found. A little boy, holding a black marker, who had scribbled all over his forehead. I tried very hard not to laugh, to tell him that it was naughty, and he got this cute little smirk on his face (above) and lifts his shirt to show me his stomach, which he'd also scribbled on. Again, I told him that writing on himself (or anything besides paper) was naughty, and then I told him to wait while I took a picture. Sometimes your hardest job as a parent is to not laugh. Thank goodness the marker was a Crayola washable one.
Brendan and Papa coloring before breakfast.
My dad, Brad, Brendan and I went sunfishing on our last day. Brendan did such a good job on the pontoon and managed to entertain himself (how my dad ever fished with four girls and himself is beyond me!) for over two hours. He fished with Papa, snacked, netted fish in the livewell and explored the pontoon. Brendan is on his way to becoming our little fisherman, which is very exciting for Brad and I.
