Lac qui Parle Valley County Fair Weekend
The Lac qui Parle County Fair was a couple weekends ago, so we spent the weekend with Gene & Mary and Jill, Chuck & the kids. Brendan loved the fair and we had a great time seeing everyone, walking around, and eating yummy fair food (ie. beef commercials, corn dogs, and hobo tacos...mmmmmmm!!) The kids loved the animal barns and the rides, and we all enjoyed the reptile and amphibian show (except for Brendan, who slept through it.) Too bad it's a whole nother year before the fair again!
Brendan petting the chick that Marci was holding. The kids could hold kittens and chicks in the kids barn.
Brendan dropping hay to feed the goats in the kids barn. He loves feeding the animals, but gets a little nervous when they come for what's in his hands.
Brendan checking out the ponies that give pony rides. They were on a grazing break, so they weren't too interested in him.
Brendan thinks that everything that smells bad is either a skunk (which he has only seen pictures of in books) or a barn. So, when we came across a couple of skunks in the wildlife exhibit he was pretty excited to see one in person. He kept saying "stinky" the entire time we were around it.
Alyssa lifting Brendan up so he could see in the "local waters" fishtank (there's only about a ten pound difference between the two kids!)
Proof of Jill touching a cow! And the cow loved her...it kept nuzzling at her for more petting.
(l->r: Alyssa, Brendan, Brad) Going to see the tractors at the fair.
Brendan enjoying some tractor time. Yes, we're one of those annoying sets of parents who let their kid on the tractors even though the sign says to stay off. Do you see how big this kid smiles when he's on a tractor? How could we not?
Brad and Brendan getting ready to go down the Super Slide.
And Brad and Brendan on their way down the Super Slide. Brendan loved it and wanted to go on it again. Brad likes it too, even though he looks like he's grimacing.
The guys on the Merry-Go-Round (l->r: Charlie, Chuck, Brendan and Brad.)
Brendan taking another turn on the Merry-Go-Round with Grandma.
All the kids rode on the vehicle-go-round. Marci led the way on the motorcycle and Alyssa, Charlie and Brendan drove the car that followed. It was fun to get them all together on one ride.
Brendan driving the car. He loves going in circles (on the boat, the lawnmower, etc.), so he was just cranking on that wheel!
After we exhausted all the ride tickets, Gene and Mary bought a bucket of balls for the kids to try to win a goldfish. Brendan and Charlie's balls mostly went in directions opposite of the fishbowls, but one of Alyssa's balls went in, making her the proud owner of her own little fishie (much to the envy of the other kids.) She even managed to keep the fish alive until they got home to the cities.
Alyssa letting Brendan check out her new goldfish.
Brendan just had to go in the snowmobile building and he even found one that was around his size. He played and played on that thing, and we seriously had to drag him away (lesson learned: expect lots and lots of screaming from overtired little boys who are being told to quit doing something fun.)
