Koosmann Hotel Getaway 2010

Brad's family has started a tradition of going to a hotel in early February. We went this year to celebrate Gene's 60th birthday and Alyssa's 7th birthday. We were sad that, due to illness, Tami & Reese and Chuck & Charlie couldn't make it this year, but we thought of them often. Brendan had been looking forward to the hotel for over a week, and we all had a great time. He's already asking when we can go back so we can go swimming and see his "friends" (his cousins.)

Marni and Brendan enjoyed playing in the kiddie pool together, laughing as Jason and Brad made the water jets lift higher and higher.

Marci, demonatrating her swimming skills in the big pool.

Alyssa, showing off her new snorkeling gear.

Megan didn't want to miss out on all the excitement. Grandpa (Gene) was nice enough to watch her so I could play in the pool too.

Aunt Jill took Brendan on his first trip down the big water slide. He loved it! (And she did WAY better than me, as I lost my footing at the bottom of the slide and totally dunked both myself and Brendan.)

After my clumsy trip down the slide with Brendan (I wasn't trying to drown him, I promise!), dad (Brad) was in charge of sliding with Brendan. I seriously think they went down about fifty times!

We celebrated Alyssa's birthday at the hotel. Happy 7th birthday, Alyssa! (You gotta love Marni blowing out the candles with Alyssa...bottom left corner of the picture...so cute!)

Brendan LOVED the angel food cake. You can't really tell, but his cheeks are just packed, and he hardly took a breath while chowing it down. (The picture looks yellow because of the lights around the pool.)

As tired as he was, Brendan didn't got to bed very well (too much excitement from the day), and he and Megan woke each other up at about 11pm and took turns screaming for about twenty minutes (sorry to all the people in rooms around us!) And to make it even better, Brendan woke up at 6am, ready to go swimming again! When we finally got into the pool at about 8:30am (it wasn't open until then) Brendan had a nice head of sleep hair horns to show off.

Megan just loved watching all the commotion. She especially loved watching the big buckets of water fill up and dump on the kids below. She was pretty content to just sit on Grandma or Grandpa's lap and take it all in.

Brendan and Marni playing with boats.

Brendan going down the kiddie slide. He couldn't get enough of it, and went down this slide a ton of times too.

Brendan's favorite part of the hotel, besides the slides, was the hot tub (just like his daddy!) The kids would go back and forth from the regular pool to the hot tub, with the parents happily joining. (l->r: Marci, Alyssa, Brendan, Brad)

Brendan had his first real shower experience before we left the hotel. He had tried showering once before at home, and hadn't liked it at all, and had lasted probably only a minute. We had to practically drag him out of this one! Brad showed him how to soap and rinse himself and he thought it was great fun. It's hard to tell in the picture, but he's washing his arms.

After saying good-bye to family at the hotel we headed down to Waconia to visit Brad's cousin Allen, Tara, Jack and Cooper (who we hadn't seen since we moved from the cities.) We also stopped by our friends' D.J., Julie and Alex's to wish Alex a happy 3rd birthday and check out their new house (beautiful!) Alex had gotten Brendan a birthday gift bag with a snow tractor, a book, and some fruit snacks, and Brendan would not let go of the bag the entire ride home...even while he was sleeping. He especially loves the snow plow and has played with it every day since he got it.
